Different crowns with distinct characteristics!

A dental crown is a tooth shape cap, which is cemented over the natural tooth in order to give it support and increase its life span. Thus it’s a way one can return the shape, size, strength of the decayed tooth, as well as improve the appearance of the teeth.

Usually, dental crowns are used when tooth strengthening, restoration, bridging, filling, root canalare being done over the damaged, decayed, or deformed tooth, either from Manhattan or from anywhere around the globe.

Mentioned below are types of dental crowns:

Metal crowns: This is the most preferred crown due to its longevity feature. Often these are made up of metal or gold, which gives a good durability factor as compared to other crowns. However, these are not preferred for front teeth because of the color, which make appearance of the teeth and person bad, but these are preferred for molar teeth’s as grinding of food is done by them.

Porcelain crowns: Usually crowns use to come in metals, which did not match with the rest of the teeth’s, but now due to porcelain crowns different shades of crowns can be made so that they can blend easily with rest of the tooth color.

With one advantage of having exact color crown, there is one disadvantage also of porcelain i.e. they are not as good as metal crowns because they are not prone for chipping. Thus eventually they do not last as long as metal crowns.

All resin: Usually people who prefer price over quality, they go for all resin crowns because these are less expensive as compared to other crowns. And in contrast to other crowns these are less durable, likely to crack fast and have short durability.

Combination crowns: These are crowns, which are made of both porcelain and metal. Such crowns can either be preferred for both front and back teeth, but part of the crown, which uses porcelain in it is likely to break fast as compared to the rest half of the crown that is made up of metal.

Now after reading the types of crowns, you must have got an idea on, which dental crowns you should prefer. So, if you are have decayed or damaged tooth then right away you need to contact the dentist in NYC or anywhere around the globe where you are residing.
